Description

This position requires a mature, experienced construction Site Superintendent possessing well-developed people and supervisory skills. He/she has a demonstrable record of success on projects together with effective decision-making capabilities. Essential skill requirements include planning, scheduling, cost control, safety and construction technology. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and leadership abilities, along with a strong team orientation, are required. The individual will be a self-starter and possess a strong work ethic with a self-imposed desire to exceed everyday expectations. In addition, he/she will have a high degree of personal integrity. Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for the on-site management of the construction project. The Site Superintendent will ensure that all aspects of the construction are effectively coordinated, meet the specifications, on schedule.
Experience:
• Cost control during construction
• Coordination of unionized trade contractors
• Preconstruction activities such as schedule development, construction sequencing and value engineering
• Working closely with project managers, unionized trade contractors’, inspectors and regulatory agencies to prepare and execute project plans
• Implementation of health, safety and environmental procedures on site in accordance with legislation and company policy to ensure the safety of all workers and protection of the public
• Effectively managing own workforce, equipment, materials and unionized trade contractors
• Must have MS Project experience
• 3 to 5 years construction background
